Assembly and Inspection Scope

This production record covers the workshop assembly and inspection of an 8-inch Class 2500 wedge gate valve with an ASTM A105 forged carbon steel body and bonnet. The specified design basis is ASME B16.34, the end-to-end dimensions follow ASME B16.10, the butt-welding end preparation follows ASME B16.25, and inspection and testing are specified to API 598.

Final dimensions, trim materials, operating arrangement and acceptance criteria remain subject to the approved drawing, purchase specification and inspection plan.

Items to Confirm During Assembly

  • Identification of the body, bonnet, wedge, stem, bolting and other accessible components against the approved production documents.
  • Accessible body-cavity, seating and guiding surfaces before closure, together with wedge-to-stem engagement and bonnet-joint assembly.
  • Operating movement, end-to-end dimensions and butt-welding end preparation against the applicable drawing.
  • Marking, packing and preservation as specified in the order documents.

Documents to Request Before Shipment

Depending on the purchase order, the final document package may include material certificates, dimensional records, assembly records, API 598 pressure-test records, approved drawings, nameplate details, preservation records and final packing photographs.

Project Release Basis

Project release should reference the approved drawing, bill of materials, purchase specification, inspection and test plan, ASME B16.34 design basis, ASME B16.10 dimensions, ASME B16.25 butt-welding end preparation, API 598 test procedure and applicable traceability records.

Trim materials, bolting, accessories, leakage acceptance criteria and preservation requirements remain order-specific until confirmed in the approved manufacturing documents.
