Manufacturing and Inspection Scope
This case documents the workshop manufacture of a 10-inch Class 300 pigging valve in ASTM A105 forged carbon steel. The production record covers body machining, closure and bypass assembly, preparation of the internal components, and final workshop assembly.
The approved drawing, purchase specification and inspection plan define the final configuration and acceptance criteria. Workshop photographs document visible production stages but do not by themselves establish the valve’s complete pressure-temperature, sealing or pigging capability.
Items confirmed during manufacturing
- Body, closure and component identification against the production traveller and material records.
- Closure mechanism, bypass arrangement and accessible internal components during assembly.
- Specified dimensions, connection details and operating movement against the approved drawing.
- Marking, coating or preservation, accessories and final assembly status as required by the order.
Documents to request before shipment
Depending on the purchase order, the document package may include material certificates, dimensional records, applicable NDE reports, pressure-test records, coating or preservation records, nameplate details and final packing photographs.

Project release should reference the approved drawing, bill of materials, inspection and test plan, pressure-test procedure and traceability records. Bore geometry, closure arrangement, bypass details, trim, end connection, coating, NDE extent and shipping preservation remain order-specific until confirmed in the purchase order and approved manufacturing documents.
